    Biographical history

    Dale McIntosh received an ARCT from the Royal Conservatory of Music, University of Toronto, a B.Ed. and M.Mus. from the University of Alberta, M.Ed. from the University of Saskatchewan, and a Ph.D. from the University of Washington. He was appointed to the Department of Arts in Education at the University of Victoria in 1974, and became a professor in that department. He has a special interest in the history of music in Canada and B.C., and has published "A Documentary History of Music in Victoria: Volume 1, 1850-1899", "Volume II, 1900-1950", and "A History of Music in British Columbia".

    The fonds consists of research data collected for three book projects on music history in Canada, B.C., and Victoria, including photocopies or slides of 1850-1950 newspaper articles, reviews, retrospective articles, and biographical data. Also included are some original programs from the period.
