history
In 1989 Art Powell, a resident of Kingfisher and a former journalist who studied economic history at the University of British Columbia, was employed under a Canada Manpower grant in conjunction with O'Keefe Ranch and the Enderby and District Museum to research forest history in the North Okanagan. Art interviewed Enderby and District oldtimers who were involved in the forest industry and transcribed the tapes. He identified and copied some of their photographs, making copy negatives in the dark room at O'Keefe Ranch. He searched the Enderby newspapers from 1904 to 1975 for information on the forest industry and he printed excerpts from the newspapers in chronological order and indexed all references. He collected information available at the British Columbia Archives and Records Service in Victoria and photocopied relevant material.
