        The Big Bonanza Mining Company was established in 1877 to carry out gold mining operations in the Cariboo. The original eight members of the company were John Boyd, John Fleming, Angus McPhail, John Yates, David Allen, John Armitage, Alfred Carson, and William Fleming. The company and its assets were sold to the Lightning Creek Gold Gravels and Drainage Company in 1899.
