Scope and content

The fonds consists of the material and records that Hudson’s Hope Museum and Archives holds with regards to the individual, Bob White. Bob White was born in 1902 in the Saskatchewan region of the Northwest Territories; child of Francis and Sybil White. From the fall of 1925-1926 Bob lived in Banff where he worked in construction at the Banff Springs Hotel. In August 1928 Bob White left and traveled all the way to Peace River Region in British Columbia. During his stay there he met many of his future comrades and in 1934 was hired on to work with the horses in the infamous 1934 Charles Bedaux Sub-Arctic Canadian Expedition. Bob White was a committed writer and recorded many of the events that occurred on the expedition. For this reason and the multitude of albums of photographs in the Peace Region the Hudson’s Hope Museum and Archives has included extensive information in this fonds. The fonds is arranged into three series: Photographs series, Bannock and Beans series, and Interview.
