Biographical history
The British-American (B.A.) Cannery at Port Essington, B.C., was built in 1883 by Gus Holmes and bought in 1891 by the Anglo-British Columbia Packing Company. The plant was moved to a nearby building in 1923, and stopped canning in 1936. Some buildings were moved to the North Pacific Cannery. The plant continued as a fish camp and net storage until 1946.

The fonds consists of ledger (1944-1946), inventory (1940-1946), coupons (1941-1946, 1949), journal (1943-1947), invoice book (1938-1946), and cashbook (1934-1946) of the British-American Cannery at Port Essington.
