        In 1930, the B.C. Department of Publicity and Information organized an automobile caravan across British Columbia to demonstrate the feasibility of a proposed Alaska highway and the potential for the development of northern B.C. Participants in the caravan included Premier Simon Fraser Tolmie, Lieutenant-Governor Randolph Bruce, and other representatives of the governments of B.C., Washington State, and Alaska.
