        History

Helen Christie was born in Melbourne, the eldest child of Charles and Marjory Robertson Christie. Her parents were married in Montreal in 1847, and her father was Superintendent of the Grand Trunk Railway westward from Toronto. Her youngest brother, Major Albert Edward Christie, 1860-1954, was a veteran of the Riel Rebellion, and was wounded at the Battle of Batouche. Helen kept a scrapbook about the Rebellion. The scrapbook was handed down to family members, who donated it to the Archives.
