The 22nd General Synod of the Anglican Church of Canada took place in Vancouver B.C., from August 25 to September 2, 1965. The main purpose of the session was to come to grips with the problem of union with the United Church of Canada. A "Committee of Ten", representing the two churches, had the responsibility of preparing a plan of union to be placed before the full Committee on Union. The Rt. Rev. G.P. Gower, Bishop of New Westminster, headed the Anglican Committee of Ten. A Committee of Arrangements was in charge of all the work required in the preparation of the event. This committee was formed of members of the Diocese of New Westminster and served as the Local Arrangements Committee for the 22nd meeting of the General Synod of the Anglican Church of Canada. The Chairman of the Committee on Arrangements was D.P. Watney.
