    Biographical history

The Enderby Unit of the Canadian Cancer Society was organized by Dr. Haugen in 1938. November 21, 1938 it officially became a branch of the Canadian Society for the Control of Cancer, renamed the Canadian Cancer Society in 1946. Campaigns were sporadic in Enderby over the years. In 1950 the Enderby Unit was re-organized, with representatives from Enderby and District clubs and organizations meeting to systematically canvas the entire area. The spring fundraising campaign is the major fundraising campaign of the year. Emergency Aid volunteers continue to provide local cancer patients with emotional support, educational resources, medical supplies and transportation.
