Biographical history
Frank Dixon (1901-1989) was born in Shanghai and his father moved the family to Hong Kong in later years. In 1925 Frank came to Vancouver where he worked on construction. He moved to Powell River and started working for the Powell River Company in 1934, later MacMillan Bloedel until his retirement in 1966. Known as 'Dixie' he was an avid photographer and operated his own darkroom in the basement of the Rodmay Hotel. He was a charter member of the Powell River Council of the Knights of Columbus. During WW11 he sold war bonds. He lived for years in the Walnut Lodge, later the Rodmay Hotel and finally the Olive Devaud seniors residence.
