The fonds consists of business and personal records of John Boyd and the Boyd family. Fonds includes records of Cox, Wade and Morland Ranch (1863-1864), Cold Spring House (1868-1894), and Cottonwood House (1874-1946). Among these roadhouse and business records are: correspondence, daybooks, cashbooks, account books, journals, accounts receivable and payable records, payroll records, and other documents. The farming records consist of miscellaneous records documenting the Boyd family's involvement and interest in farming and a number of records of the Cariboo Agricultural and Horticultural Association (1912-1953). There are also mining records documenting the Boyds' various mining investments, including records of the Big Bonanza Mining Company (1891-1906), and a number of mining maps. The personal textual records include: correspondence (1862-1951); financial, tax and estate records; records of Nam Sing Ranch (1899-1938); and, Bowron records (1869-1903). Fonds includes correspondence pertaining to World War I and of Archibald and Chester Boyd, who both died in the war.
