Slater, JosephineSeries consists of invoices, receipts, lists of outstanding accounts, ledgers, bank statements, and daily pack reports, largely resulting form the operation of Brunswick Cannery, 1898-1930, as well as the Anglo American Cannery, 1986 to 1902. Invoices include billings from suppliers in Vancouver and New Westminster as well as local suppliers of groceries, lumber, hardware, etc. in Port Guichon and Ladner, and from local individuals. The invoices show changes in canning techniques, for example, invoices from the American Can Company for new types of can. Brunswick Cannery also received memorandums of debits and credits assigned to the cannery for supplies received from and traded to sister canneries and the head office of B.C. Packers. The ledgers are in the form of Net Books and contain information pertaining to fishermen and cannery workers who have accounts with the cannery for boats, equipment, food and supplies.
Series includes receipts for moneys paid by the British Columbia Packers Association to persons to fish, wages, and work done, and to persons and companies for goods and services supplied to Brunswick Cannery. Hand written entries give names of those receiving money, the amount, and the type of work done, and therefore supply personnel information. Other incomplete sets of records include lists of debts owed to the Association by its employees, bank statements, and daily reports of pack.
Brunswick Cannery (Canoe Pass, B.C.)Series consists of all bylaws passed, signed and sealed by Municipal Council, the governing body of the City of Coquitlam. Includes some bylaws that did not get past the final reading. Bylaws are pertinent to all aspects of municipal government including taxation, land and building regulation, public health and safety, culture and recreation, licensing and public works. Series includes appendices such as maps and engineering drawings. Arranged chronologically.
Early bylaws are bound in volumes; later ones are filed individually. The bylaws are numbered sequentially, but numbering begins again at #1 in 1971 when the District of Fraser Mills amalgamated with the District of Coquitlam. In some references the original bylaw numbers are preceded by the letter ?A? to distinguish them from the more recent bylaws
City of Coquitlam. Council and Office of the City ClerkSeries consists of the minutes of City Council meetings, the official record of the discussion and decision-making activities of the governing body of the City of Coquitlam. The minutes address all aspects of local municipal government, including municipal
taxation, land and building regulation, public health, safety, culture and recreation, and public works. Confidential or sensitive issues are addressed in Executive Council meetings, the minutes of which are maintained as a separate series. Arrangement of minutes is chronological.
Series consists of Clerk?s correspondence arranged alphabetically by subject. Subjects range from permit applications, auctions, air pollution, budgets, electrical and water service, elections, finance, garbage disposal, the Historical Society, insurance claims, the library, parks, public hearings, schools, recreation, superannuation, voters? lists, tax assessment and zoning. Alphabetic miscellaneous files proceed each letter block and in some years as a block of ?miscellaneous A-Z? files are located together at the beginning of annual block.
Earliest material was filmed in 1961 and subsequent filming was done roughly on an annual basis. Filming was done in batches, with closed files pulled for filming and active ones carried forward to the next year. Specific titles of filmed files are listed along with
notes regarding their annual status (i.e. pulled or brought forward), in a series of annual indexes. An index to the individual microfilm reels was created in the 1990s.
Series consists of legal documents sent to the Clerk?s Office or signed and sealed by Council and registered under the Clerk?s docket system. Such records include public works contracts, service agreements, deeds, development permits, development variance permits, subdivision permits, zoning and rezoning permits, grant documents and insurance policies, as well as some supporting correspondence. Each docket was given a unique docket number by the Clerk?s Office and filed numerically. Generally speaking, the dockets are the original records corresponding to Council resolutions dealing with the acceptance of agreements or approval of permits. The first two dockets contain records relating to the District?s incorporation.

Series consists of minutes of the Board of License Commissioners, between June 13, 1894 and September 12, 1917, documenting the history of liquor supply and related activities in the community. The names and locations of social clubs, individuals, public houses, businesses and hotels are documented in the minutes. Reports of the Licence Inspector / Chief of Police record activities of gambling and gaming and details about clientelle in the hotel and clubs. In the later years (1913-1917), the Board heard many complaints and revoked licenses for the serving of liquor to "Indians", failure to operate licensed premises as a "hotel", or for allowing gambling on the premises. Convictions for illegal sale of liquor are also documented.

Series consists of photograph print, copy print and negative images of members of the Whitworth family and their friends and relatives. Images include individual and family portraits, photos of family activities, the Whitworth house, and Whitworth boats (especially the "Birdswell"). Vancouver School BoardSeries consists of provincial and municipal licenses allowing the operation of Brunswick Cannery at Canoe Pass, gill-net licenses, court summons between the cannery and fishermen for monies owed and information about licenses granted to fishermen. The series also includes contracts signed between the cannery and fishermen that oblige the fisherman to sell his catch to Brunswick Cannery in return for rent of equipment and/or an agreed price for fish, and a contract signed between an agent and the cannery for the supply of skilled labour under the "Chinese Contract" system.
