Materials in this subseries relate to Diamond's video installation "Patternity" (1992). Video description from V Tape: “Patternity is a 3-channel installation with furniture and photography curtains. Patternity makes use of the landscapes of New York, memories recalled in a five day intensive studio shoot, gestures and text. It places these in juxtaposition in a humorous, touching and critical inquiry about fathers and daughters, the passing on of language and narrative, and the problem of nostalgia. The history of an individual, Jerome D. Diamond, stands against the collective struggles of radical union, Jewish and other groups.“
These materials includes editing logs; original photographs of the production; transcripts of interviews with family members; promotional material; correspondence with curators; and technical installation notes. Includes material on the installation of "Patternity" at the Vancouver Art Gallery in 1991, inclusion in the National Gallery of Canada in 1992, and the Biennial of Sydney in 1993.
