Boat log books
Series · 1948-1973
Part of John Christopherson fonds

Series consists of log books recording the daily operation of tug boats used in the B.C. Packers' oyster operation, mainly the M.V. East Delta, M.V. E.F.N., Togo No. 1, and M.V. Jervis Queen. Major contents include destination and time on each course, weather conditions and nature of work. The boats were largely used to tow scows loaded with oysters tot eh plant in Delta, and to position empty scows over the oyster beds. At low tide the empty scows would land near the beds to which the workers would walk and harvest the oysters. Full scows were then floated back to the plant. The "East Delta" was used by Mr. Christoperhson to travel to other oyster operations, and became a second home for John and Grace after the closure of the plant in Boundary Bay.
