The fonds consist of two typed letters from Bosanquet to Roger Senhouse plus a carbon typed letter to Bosanquet from Senhouse. Senhouse annotated Special Collections' copy of "Henry James at Work". Also included are a carbon typescript transcription of Henry James' dictation, a clipping of Bosanquet's article "The Country of Henry James" from Time and Tide, and photocopied clippings from TLS re: James and Bosanquet.

Errol Shilliday (St. Mary's Church), presenting a history of the Victoria Fusiliers; a typescript of Boulton's history, which includes photographs taken in St. Mary's Church of the Regimental Colour, The King's Colour, and the W.W. I memorial tablet; and photocopies of clippings from "The Victoria Daily Colonist" and "The Victoria Daily Times", which relate to the regiment.

The collection consists of 3 typed, signed letters; a postcard; 5 Christmas cards; and a short note from Cummings. (tls to Peter Russell, the rest to Mrs. Ellen Stevenson). One of these letters relates to reprinting one of Cummings' articles. One Xmas card is a reproduction of a painting by E.E. Cummings (stamped on verso "Painting by E.E. Cummings").

The fonds consists of a diary that contains the rather irregular entries made by a man of twenty-five years, employed by the Countess of Carnarvon as a tutor for her son Aubrey Nigel Henry Molyneaux Herbert (1880-1923), prior to Aubrey's going up to Oxford. Aubrey later served as a Member of Parliament for South Somerset. His daughter, Gabriel, was the second wife of Evelyn Waugh. The diary commences in April at Porto Fino, Liguria, and later records trips to Wiesbaden, Cologne, and London. He then begins it again in the French countryside. The diary ends in July.

Acc. 1991-076 comprises: a tls from "your fellow writer, Nellie L. McClung" to George Bugnet, Dec. 9, 1931, mentions sending a copy of her "new book"; a Christmas broadsheet poem signed "R. W. and Nellie McClung" with a printed photo attached of the McClung's titled "At the Great Divide, August 1932" and 6 newspaper clippings.
Acc. 1996-016 comprises items from J. and D. Gilbert's collection from Nellie McClung's personal library and papers (see note). Included are: a Christmas card with holograph verse to "Mr. and Mrs. McClung" signed James L. Hughes; a poem clipping titled "To My Dear Friends: Who made my 75th Birthday the Happiest of my my long list of Birthdays" with Hughes's comment, "Nearly nine years ago"; a 1 page hls ,"Dec. 28.", to McClung from Hughes; a 1 page holo. Acc. 2000-086 consists of a Mar. 22nd [1939?] hls, "Nellie L. McC." with holo note, to Isabel Mitchell accepting an invitation to visit, and a June 24, 1939 tls from McClung to Isabel Mitchell referring to her brother's book. Her brother, Rev. Thomas H. Mitchell, wrote "The Drama of Life" (1922) with a preface by McClung.

Ralph Thistle fonds

The fonds consists mainly of the diary of Lieutenant Thistle, Area Intelligence Officer, Prince Rupert, B.C. (Dec. 7,1941-June 30, 1942). In the diary he mentions the bombing of Pearl Harbor and the consequent U.S. entry into the war. He later refers to the effect this event has upon defence operations on the northern B.C. coast and mentions the "roundup" of Japanese fishing boats. Also included in the fonds is a copy of a report that he and Major Dow sent to their Officer Commanding, on Feb. 6, 1942. They have it marked "Secret". Dr. R.H. Roy published an article based on the diary in B.C. Studies (No.31, Autumn 1976).

The collection consists of a sketchbook with drawings largely of churches, country houses, and other architectural subjects. It includes a few loose and pasted-in sketches at the back. There is a poem of unknown derivation under the first sketch in the book, preceded by an index to 62 sketches dated 1821-1824. Later sketches are pasted in or loose.

The collection consists of a handwritten postcard to Moira (Troup), a former employee of the McPherson Library, University of Victoria. It is signed “Tiff”. In addition, there are two theatre programmes, which feature both Troup and Findley in the respective casts: Crest Theatre Foundation (Toronto) production of The Entertainer by John Osborne, and The Straw Hat Players (Port Carling) in Escapade By Roger MacDougal (Findley also directed), plus a hc from “Tiff”.

The fonds consists of a notebook inscribed "To: Mark Perrin Esq, Knockdrummin with Austin D, Cooper's Compliments --1876." The first page of text notes: "Copied from the Journal of Antiquarian Rambles in the County of Dublin by the late Austin Cooper F.S.A.& M.R.I.A." The notebook is illustrated with 3 watercolours and 5 ink sketches. Also included is further information on Lusk in several hands, including that of Mark Perrin. There are several notes on Lusk on enclosed loose leaves.

E. M. Forster collection

The collection consists of letters written by Forster to Randall. They concern, firstly, his trip to Rumania, where he stayed with the Randalls; a tour in France in 1928; and his journey home. Later letters include references to such literary people as Herbert Read, Harold Monro and T.S. Eliot, plus a mention of reading James Joyce's "Ulysses". He also refers to his visit to Africa and his sentiments about the Spanish Civil War and W.W.II. Most of the later letters are signed "Morgan".

The collection consists of two letters from the poet to George and Florence Noyes concerning his preparation of foreign language dictionaries for the U.S. Army and two from Patty Bacon (wife) on personal matters. All the correspondence is from 1941, the year Leonard Bacon won the Pulitzer prize. Also included is a clipping (obit of Martha Bacon, ie. “Patty”) from 1967.
