The collection consists of photographs depicting scenes and aspects of life in Vancouver and in other locations in British Columbia and the Yukon Territory from ca. 1860. The subjects depicted include forestry, mining, fishing, transportation, shipping, and construction as well as buildings, interiors, landscapes, people and significant events in B.C.'s past.
The fonds consists of photographs and postcards of steamships, sealing schooners, the Empress Line and other vessels as well as Vancouver and Victoria harbours, many photographs taken by "Trio". Fonds includes CPR wharf passes and an invitation to RMS Empress of Russia, 1913.
