Series consists of photograph albums, loose prints, glass plate slides, glass plate negatives, film negatives and other photographic materials created by the BCMC and its members. The photographs cover a wide range of activities undertaken by the club, and are particularly strong in their documentation of exploration and mountaineering trips in British Columbia. Some of the more prolific photographers whose works are included in this series are listed below. The dates at which they were active, or the period covered by their photographs, is indicated in parentheses: Charles Chapman (1900s-1910s), Jim Irving (1910s-1920s), Preston L. Tait (1910s-1940s), Charles Townsend (1920s), Neal Carter (1920s), P.R. Lockie (1920s-1960s), George Wallis (1930s-1940s), George Rose (1950s-1960s), Mary Wells Anderson (1950s-1960s), Martin Kafer (1950s-1960s), Michael Feller (1970s-2000s). Over 40 named photographers are represented in the BCMC fonds, though there are also a large number of photographs for which the identity of the photographer is unknown.

Series consists of bound copies of the published journals of the British Columbia Mountaineering Club. The journal was originally titled 'The Northern Cordilleran' but was later changed to 'B.C. Mountaineer'. Series contains copies of the journal, copies of the special centennial journal of 2009, as well as a two volume index to the 'B.C. Mountaineer' and other BCMC publications.

The Canadian Alpine Journal is a publication of the Alpine Club of Canada. While not a record of the BCMC, the journals have been included in the fonds of the BCMC in order to facilitate their retrieval. They contain numerous submissions by BCMC members and will be of interest to anyone researching the history of mountaineering in British Columbia and in Canada more generally. They have not been listed individually but the series consists of loose copies of the journal (1907-2000), digitized copies of the journal (1907-2010), plus an index to the journal for the period 1907-1966.

Series consists of the summit registers for Mt. Rexford (1951-1998), Kwoiek Needle (1964-2000), Mt. Slesse (1989-2003), MacDonald Peak (1990-2002) and Sky Pilot Mountain (1999-2008). They include the names of party members, the date and route information. Given that these documents were stored at the summit over prolonged periods of time, they are generally in poor condition - several having been badly water damaged.

Series consists of the minutes of the meetings of the Executive of the British Columbia Mountaineering Club. Initially, this body was known as the Executive Committee, but it is more generally referred to simply as the Executive. The minutes for the meetings of the Executive generally include only the minutes themselves with few supporting papers. Generally, committee reports presented at the meetings are summarized in the minutes. The reports which were tabled at the Annual General Meetings and Semi-Annual/Half Yearly meetings are maintained as a separate series. Please see Reports Presented at the Annual General Meetings. The minute books of the Executive Committee also contain the minutes of the Annual General Meetings of the British Columbia Mountaineering Club for the period 1914-1976 (with gaps). These minutes are later separated out to form their own series. Beginning in 2001, the AGM minutes are once again included within the series of Executive minutes (2001-2006). There appear to be earlier minutes which are no longer extant. The minutes for the first meeting in the earliest minute book in this series refer to minutes of a previous meeting in their initial entry. There are also no extant minutes for the Executive for the periods 1921-1930 and 1976-1984.

Series consists of files regarding annual summer camps, including the George Wallis summer camps at Garibaldi, other camps, trips and expeditions, including Mt. Waddington (1936) and Mt. Series consists of the Constitution and By-Laws of the British Columbia Mountaineering Club. It includes the original Certificate of Incorporation (25 Nov 1912) as well as later revisions. It also includes annual returns to the Registrar of Societies, minutes of the Executive Committee and minutes of the Annual General meetings.

In 1938 Harbottle’s Jersey Products purchased a new Diamond T 1-ton pickup truck as a new delivery vehicle. Jeffery Harbottle personally travelled to Chicago to pick up the vehicle and drive it back home to North Vancouver. The truck continued to be used after the business was sold in 1942. In 1971 collector Dennis Montgomery rescued the vehicle from a scrapyard and displayed it with other antique vehicles at Expo 86, where it came to Jeffery Harbottle’s attention. When cleaning up the vehicle Dennis had discovered a set of Harbottle dairy milk bottle caps under the seats, confirming that it was the same truck Jeffery had driven back from Chicago 44 years earlier. In 1991 Jeffery acquired the the truck from Dennis and began a process of restoring the truck to its 1938 state. The process was completed by 1999 and the truck was donated to the NVMA in 2003. This series contains materials related to the original truck, such as manuals and original photographs, as well as a materials related to the rediscovery, restoration, display, and donation of the truck.

Series documents John Edwin Loucks' involvement in numerous associations, societies and community activities from the 1940s until the early twenty-first century. Loucks was especially active in the North Shore Community Concerts' Association. Records in this series consist of meeting minutes, reports, correspondence, events programmes, invitations and honour certificates. Records in the series are arranged according to organization and form of documents.

Series documents City of North Vancouver news from the 1970s until the early twenty-first century that held interest or importance for John Edwin Loucks.
