The fonds consists of a handwritten score of "Musique Intimes: 1. Cloitre" by Schmitt. At the end, it is signed with the place (Montreux) and date. In pencil, on the top left hand corner beside the title, is the inscription "a Maurice Ravel" (1875-1937). There is also an ink inscription on the top right hand corner (in French) signed by Emile Verhaeren (1855-1916).

In addition, there is a clipping of his obituary and two copies of his Memorial program, together with a covering letter.

There are two copies of each. The second copy has a handwritten note to Downton from Reg (Roy) in 1968. The first copy has the stamp of G. Smedley Andrews.

Also included is correspondence with Elbridge Adams, Hubert Bland, William Archer, William J. Pickerell, and Harold Laski, together with correspondence from Janet Achurch to Hubert Bland. There is also a small amount of ephemera.
