Delta Choral Society fonds

The fonds consists of a complete set of minutes, financial records, and programmes that describe the Society's operations between 1925 and 1935. The fonds also includes programmes for earlier musical groups such as the Glee Club, Male Choir, and Patriotic Choir, and the 1919 minutes for the Glee Club. The fonds includes the incorporation documents drawn up in 1935. Photographs of some of the productions are also part of the fonds. The fonds is arranged in the following series: Minutes of meetings, Legal papers, Financial records, Correspondence, Programmes, Music books, and Photographs.

Edgar Dunning fonds

The fonds consists of Mr. Dunning's family and business records; records accumulated as a member of various community organizations; and documents, manuscripts, and photographs resulting from Edgar's work for the Delta newspaper, the Optimist, and his interest in Delta community events and history. Family records include correspondence and legal records regarding the property on 48th Avenue and Delta Street, as well as financial and educational certificates. A large series of memorabilia includes invitations and other ephemera, which Edgar accumulated as publisher and reporter for the Optimist and as active community member. Business records are largely from the Optimist printing business, and include examples of print products such as invitations, programs, letterheads, tickets, municipal reports, etc., which were printed for local people and businesses of Delta. A small series of Optimist newspaper records include lists of subscribers from the 1940s. The fonds includes a sample of Edgar's writings for the Optimist on historical topics, plus a larger group of manuscripts that have been edited by him in his capacity as editor of the Optimist and as an interested and knowledgeable local historian. The fonds also consists of minutes of meetings, correspondence, reports, etc. accumulated by Edgar as a member of the Delta Community Band, various centennial committees, the Delta Historical and Museum Society, and other organizations. Edgar is a talented amateur photographer, and his photograph collection reflects his work as a reporter and his interest in the people and events of Delta. Holmes family fonds

The fonds consists of records generated by farming operations on the Holmes farm on Crescent Island, Delta, and by Locke Holmes' later activities after the farm was sold. The farm records are largely from the years 1910 to 1921 and include financial records, correspondence, and reference and miscellaneous material. Locke Holmes' records are few and give a general indication of his activities. The records have been arranged in the following series: financial records; Crescent Island B.C. Hay and Grain Growers' Association records; correspondence; reference and miscellaneous material; and Locke Holmes' material.

The fonds consists of records generated by the operation of the Brunswick Cannery on Canoe Pass from 1897 to 1926, under the ownership of the Brunswick Cannery Company, and after 1902, under the ownership of the British Columbia Packers Association and British Columbia Fishing and Packing Company Ltd. The fonds also includes records belonging to the Anglo American Canning Company Ltd. probably because the company's president, Francis Griffin Bell, became the manager of Brunswick Cannery for the Association in 1902. The fonds includes licenses, contracts, financial and fishermen's records generated by daily operations, plant inventories, and correspondence. The records are not complete. The records reflect its operation as a branch of the British Columbia Packers Association and therefore give insight into the operation of the Association. The fonds has been arranged into 9 series: annual reports, correspondence, financial records, fishermen's records, Francis G. Bell family records, legal records, miscellaneous material, personnel records, and plant inventories.

The fonds consists of minutes of meetings and miscellaneous other administrative records which document the Delta Branch's most active period during the Second World War, and its subsequent decline post WWII. The fonds also includes a notebook recording the materials used and articles produced by the United Church Work Unit, plus sewing patterns and knitting instructions, published by the Canadian Red Cross, that were used by members of the Work Units.

Ethel Mowat fonds

The fonds consists of records and photographs that document the activities of Ethel's parents, children and husband, and collections of photographs, taped and transcribed interviews, historical notes, and records accumulated in her function as member of various organizations, author of a memoir "From Dawn to the Twilight Years", and local historian. The fonds contains miscellaneous records of the I.O.D.E. and the Delta Museum and Archives, and photographs of members of the I.O.D.E. and Dugout committee. The fonds holds a collection of Mowat family photographs used in Ethel's memoir; a collection of records and photographs, largely belonging to the McKee family, found at the McKee House prior to its renovation as a Senior Citizen's Centre; and a collection of taped and transcribed interviews with Ethel and Sid Mowat, and others conducted by Ethel with local residents, including Bob Trim and Rosetta Saga.

Record types include correspondence, financial records, agreements and legal documents, certificates, newspaper clippings, reports, agendas, memorandums, newsletters, meeting minutes, and case files attached to specific committees. There are procedural manuals, permits and licenses, invitations, a constitution, application forms for grants and nominees for the B.C. Senior Award, which include resumes or curricula vitae and letters of recommendation. A few records and a photograph album, which belonged to the Brock family, were retained by the Brock House Society.

The archival fonds consists of the following series: Direct Action-related clippings, correspondence, ephemera and notes; legal correspondence; pre- and post-parole correspondence, ephemera, notes and writings by others; correspondence received during incarceration; prison records (supplied to Hansen under an Access to Information request); Direct Action chapter drafts and related materials; and RCMP surveillance transcripts (closed until 2072).

Subject matter of the mixed clippings and correspondence series includes: anti-nuclear/anti-cruise missile activism, court proceedings, Elizabeth Fry Society, environmental issues, indigenous peoples issues, international activism, pornography, anti-pornography/anti-snuff films, prison-industrial complex, sexual assault, Red Hot Video, the Vancouver Five trial matters and sentencing, women’s rights.

Correspondence received during incarceration series includes: correspondence from Brent Taylor, Janice Bear Neudorf, and various supporters and publishers; series also includes 1 box of previous sealed letters from other members of the Vancouver Five, primarily Brent Taylor.

Environmental Associations, 1972-2000; BC Environmental newsletters, 1970-2000; Community Associations, 1990-2000; Capital Regional District, 1990-2000; Foundations, 1994-2000; Issues, 1973-2000; Land preservation, 1990-2000; Awards, 1992-2001; Photographs. The Alpha-Numeric system was established by Derrick Mallard in the early years of his environmental work. The vast majority of the files were left un-filed, and constitute the Mallards research files relating to their C.A.S.E. work. These have been arranged in series reflecting the subject groupings of his early alpha-numeric system. Administrative files relating to C.A.S.E. have been arranged in the B.C. Environmental Associations series. Approximately 300 reports and publications have been transferred to Special Collections, and cataloged as the Derrick Mallard Collection. They are on a wide variety of environmental subjects, including: water, sewage, transportation, parks, farming, noise, fishing, endangered species and global issues.
