Series consists of provincial and municipal licenses allowing the operation of Brunswick Cannery at Canoe Pass, gill-net licenses, court summons between the cannery and fishermen for monies owed and information about licenses granted to fishermen. The series also includes contracts signed between the cannery and fishermen that oblige the fisherman to sell his catch to Brunswick Cannery in return for rent of equipment and/or an agreed price for fish, and a contract signed between an agent and the cannery for the supply of skilled labour under the "Chinese Contract" system.
Brunswick Cannery (Canoe Pass, B.C.)Series consists of records belonging to Francis Griffin Bell and Dorothy Bell. Mr. Bell was manager of the Brunswick Cannery, Canoe Pass, 1902-1927(?) for the B.C. Packers Association. Prior to working as manager for the Association, Francis G. Bell was president of the Anglo-American Canning Co., which was bought by the Association in 1902. His daughter, Dorothy Bell, worked as a reporter beginning in 1915 for the Eburne Gazette, later in 1922 accepting a position on the editorial staff of McLean's Magazine.
Brunswick Cannery (Canoe Pass, B.C.)Series consists of records generated by cannery workers and fishermen at Brunswick Cannery in the course of purchasing supplies at the cannery store and delivering their fish catch to the cannery. Individual workers kept running accounts at the cannery store for the purchase of food, clothing, hardware, and other sundries, recording the purchases in small notebooks (account books). The series contains records such as: counter check books used as receipts for fish brought to Brunswick Cannery and fish tally receipts. The records include bound form books (Lovell's Counter Check Books) and loose pages from some that record such information as type and number of fish received, the fishermen's name or initials, the number of the boat, and the amount paid for the fish.
Brunswick Cannery (Canoe Pass, B.C.)Series consists of invoices, receipts, lists of outstanding accounts, ledgers, bank statements, and daily pack reports, largely resulting form the operation of Brunswick Cannery, 1898-1930, as well as the Anglo American Cannery, 1986 to 1902. Invoices include billings from suppliers in Vancouver and New Westminster as well as local suppliers of groceries, lumber, hardware, etc. in Port Guichon and Ladner, and from local individuals. The invoices show changes in canning techniques, for example, invoices from the American Can Company for new types of can. Brunswick Cannery also received memorandums of debits and credits assigned to the cannery for supplies received from and traded to sister canneries and the head office of B.C. Packers. The ledgers are in the form of Net Books and contain information pertaining to fishermen and cannery workers who have accounts with the cannery for boats, equipment, food and supplies.
Series includes receipts for moneys paid by the British Columbia Packers Association to persons to fish, wages, and work done, and to persons and companies for goods and services supplied to Brunswick Cannery. Hand written entries give names of those receiving money, the amount, and the type of work done, and therefore supply personnel information. Other incomplete sets of records include lists of debts owed to the Association by its employees, bank statements, and daily reports of pack.

Correspondence is about government regulations; policy and procedures, and operational inquiries and directives received from the head office of B.C. Packers Association; and inquiries from suppliers. Circulars from the Fraser River Canners' Association may have been received by Mr. Bell as President of the Anglo American Canning Co.
Brunswick Cannery (Canoe Pass, B.C.)Series consists of records that were obtained from the Brunswick Cannery site after is was operated as a fishing camp for the Imperial plant at Steveston (1930-1939). After 1939 the buildings were reopened and used for net and boat storage and local Japanese fishermen and their families resided in some of the buildings along with other fishermen and a caretaker. Records contain information regarding residents and fish tallies between 1941-1942.

The General Manager's Report describes the operations and results of the business of the Association including canneries in operation, market conditions, improvements to plants, condition of its fleet of steamers, comments on fishing strategies and enhancements, and a financial summary.
