Series consists of records that pertain to the business and personal activities of the subjects of the files. Each estate file has its own unique collection of records. The original provenance of these records was the subjects of the files. Subsequently these records were used by another party in the course of settling these subjects’ estates. Series contains three boxes of files. These files include deeds, correspondence, invoices, receipts, insurance policies, investment certificates, contracts, indentures, and other records. The series includes several files pertaining to early Sikh residents.

Series consists of ca. 300 black and white prints and ca. 270 negatives. Almost all of these photographs appear to have been taken in conjunction with the McLeod Company’s insurance and property management functions. Thus most of the photographs are of various pieces of property presumably insured, managed, or developed by the McLeod Company. An appraisal of school buildings was carried out in 1950 and a number of photrographs of schools are included in this series.

The series contains meeting notes, newsletters, reports, membership cards, handbooks, correspondence, conference and convention programs, and a scrapbook. Series consists of a book on the genealogy of the Homer name, published in 1889, several drafts of a typewritten document entitled "Memories of My Early Childhood Days in New Westminster, B.C." The document includes a description of the Bushby House, interactions with First Nation members, and Sir John A. Macdonald's visit to New Westminster of 1886. There is also a Christmas Greetings card, and notes written presumably by Ethel Louise.

Minutes

Series consists of minutes created by the New Westminster Local Council of Women during the course of their meetings. The minutes reveal the changing concerns of the Local Council of Women, comprised of a large variety of topics of interest to the Council. The minutes record information such as the election of a president and various chairs, resolutions on subjects of concern, reports from members, and the Council’s discussions on fulfilling their duties. All fourteen volumes are handwritten, although some of the later volumes include the occasional typed minutes, and all have maintained good condition.

Series consists of one volume and one folder of correspondence created by the New Westminster Local Council of Women. The correspondence volume, which is from a much earlier date (1898 – 1923) contains hand-written copies of letters sent to people by the Council, as well as the replies. The folder is of a more contemporary nature (1970 – 1985), and contains typed carbon copies of correspondence. The range of subjects discussed in the correspondence is very wide, encompassing everything from formal invitations to tea to concerns regarding orphans. Near the end of the volume, the content of letters received is no longer copied, only the sender and a vague subject are retained.

Series consists of a book entitled “History of the New Westminster Credit Women’s Breakfast Club.” The Breakfast Club was organized on August 5, 1934, with the purpose of promoting the interests of women who were employed in the credit profession. The book contains an account of what the club did on specific dates, written by different club historians over the years. The book presumably belonged to a member of the Local Council of Women.

A regular feature of the minutes is the recording of loans that were approved by the directors of the Company. The series contains six books of minutes.
