The collection consists of sound recordings of interviews with pioneers of Salt Spring Island and of addresses of meetings of the Salt Spring Island Historical Society. The collection includes interviews conducted as part of the C.B.C. Imbert Orchard series, the Salt Spring Senior Citizens Project (1977), a project done by Tony Farr, and projects of the Salt Spring Island Historical Society.
The fonds consists of minute books (1896-1940, 1955-1964), ledgers (1900-1933), fall fair programs and prize lists, cashbook (1908-1915), membership book (1897-1912), and a secretary's daybook (1907-1911). Fonds incorporates records of the Salt Spring Island Horticultural and Fruit Growers Association, the Islands' Agricultural and Fruit Growers Association, and the Islands' Farmers' Institute.
