The collection consists of manuscript material, consisting of a carbon typescript, corrected of "An Explanation" (being the preface to Shaw's edition of the Shaw-Ellen Terry correspondence); a manuscript of "Motives of Socialism"; and marked proofs for "Shaw Speaks on War" (a transcript of a short wave broadcast in 1937). Also included is correspondence with Elbridge Adams, Hubert Bland, William Archer, William J. Pickerell, and Harold Laski, together with correspondence from Janet Achurch to Hubert Bland. There is also a small amount of ephemera.

The fonds consists of records relating to Pearkes' military career, 1933-1976; Pearkes' personal and family papers, 1918-1978; and reference material including newsletters, magazines and other publications, 1906-1985. Records include correspondence between Pearkes and the Royal Canadian Legion, citations and birthday congratulations, Information Documents on the George R. Pearkes Children's Foundation, and a file relating to Mrs. Blytha Pearkes' activities with the Wives of Progressive Conservative Members and Senators, including membership lists and correspondence. Fonds also includes publications collected by Pearkes, programmes for official functions, annual reports of the Union Club of British Columbia and a numerous photographs of his life as a soldier and politician.

Samuel Maclure fonds

The fonds consists of architectural plans of Samuel Maclure for homes in Victoria, other B.C. locations, and out of province locations, as well as lists of people who commissioned homes by Maclure, including construction contracts. Fonds includes plans by English designer George P. Bankart; plans by H. D. Day; plans by other architects; and watercolours by Maclure of houses, proposed houses and alterations. The fonds also consists of 8 negatives made from copies of original drawings of Hatley Park and 3 photocopies of sketches of a bungalow designed for Mrs. Maltwood.

The collection consists mostly of correspondence from Russell about his social and literary activities. The vast majority of this correspondence is to William K. Magee. There are a few letters to Charles Weekes, Robert Graves, and Miss Buxton. In addition, there is a letter from AE's son Diarmuid Russell to Magee re Magee's proposed biography of AE and a photocopy of a letter (transcript) to Judge Richard Campbell from Dudley Digges re Campbell's broadcast "Farewell to AE". Other materials include a few clippings about AE (obit etc.) and an undated b/w photo of AE.

The fonds consists of a diary that contains the rather irregular entries made by a man of twenty-five years, employed by the Countess of Carnarvon as a tutor for her son Aubrey Nigel Henry Molyneaux Herbert (1880-1923), prior to Aubrey's going up to Oxford. Aubrey later served as a Member of Parliament for South Somerset. His daughter, Gabriel, was the second wife of Evelyn Waugh. The diary commences in April at Porto Fino, Liguria, and later records trips to Wiesbaden, Cologne, and London. He then begins it again in the French countryside. The diary ends in July.

Collection includes photographs of parades and drills taken by the Department of National Defence; photocopies of military order of the 1st Canadian Army during World War II; copies of intelligence tests administered by the Canadian Armed Forces; correspondence, maps, daily reports and copies of morale reports of the Canadian Militia Training Centre No. 111, Gordon Head Camp, together with some photos; booklet of poems by R.W. Day of Sidney Camp; orders for Operation Overlord (D-Day) and other military orders of the 16th (Canadian Scottish) Infantry Battalion; and, miscellaneous reports (including those related to the Dieppe raid), brochures and reference material; Militia Orders (photocopy) 1899; "Secret War Diary" 1-31 May 1941, 6th Cdn. The collection consists of photographs and postcards from Africa, South East Asia, China, Japan, and Korea. Those items from China and surrounding countries appear to be from about the time of The Boxer Rebellion. Only one photograph is dated ( a Korean one -1899). Also included is a copy of the "Gaelic Roller". The S.S. Gaelic appears to have been an American vessel on a journey from Honolulu to the Philippines. The ship's 'paper' has as its editors J. S. MacNider (Shanghai), Grant Wallace (Evening Bulletin, San Francisco), and H. J. Whigham (Morning Post, London). They have signed the front page. The copy is a holograph paste-up version.

The fonds consists of drafts of his works, including handwritten manuscripts, typescripts and carbon copies with sometimes extensive corrections of much of his published work and several unpublished titles; correspondence from personal friends and publishers; Goldring's letters to the editor; diaries and notebooks, 1903-1960; newspaper clipping files; and a Goldring biography file. Names of correspondents include: Richard Aldington, John Betjeman, T.S. Eliot, Emma Goldman, Aldous Huxley, W.S. Maugham, and Alec and Evelyn Waugh. The largest correspondence files are from Mary Butts, Ethel Mannin and Louis Wilkinson. Also included is a file of correspondence from Betty Duncan to Conal O'Riordan. She later became Goldring's first wife and the mother of his two children

The collection consists of a photograph album in an Japanese decorated lacquer case, done in the accordion manner. The two figures on the case have ivory heads inset. The album contains fifty 9.5 x 7.5 black and white photographs taken during the early part of the Boxer Rebellion, commencing in June 3 1900. It includes pictures of the destruction houses, larger buildings, railway lines, the capture of Chinese prisoners and various English, German and Japanese troops. Each photograph has its own typeset legend underneath

The collection consists of a framed facsimile (or possible forgery) of The Absent-Minded Beggar, an 1899 poem by Rudyard Kipling. The poem was set to music by Sir Arthur Sullivan as part of an appeal to raise money for the Boer War.

These series include aerial photographs of the Western Front, information of a World War One operation at the city of Lens, orders issued to the Battalion, personnel records, photographs, publications (including early editions of "The Brazier"), reports, scrapbooks, information on training, minutes of meetings of the Veterans Association of the 16th Battalion, and a design for the 16th Battalion war memorial.
