        History

        Auxiliary #98 was formed on April 22, 1943. Mrs. Atchinson was the temporary president and introduced Mrs. Godfrey from Aux. #30 (Lake Cowichan) who spoke on membership obligation. Sister Brown of the district council spoke of the objectives and responsibilities and presented the charter. The 1st executive: President - Mrs. Atchinson; Vice President - Mrs. Gilchrist; Recording Secretary - Mrs. Boomer; Secretary/Treasurer - Mrs. Weeks; Warden - Mrs. Gripp; Conductor - Mrs. Walbon; Trustees - Mrs. Mutch, Mrs. Adams and Mrs. Solmie. The Auxiliary was responsible for many important achievements; cash grants to the Community Church Building Fund; garden parties; bazaars; Solarium contributions of clothing and blankets; money to the Red Cross and bringing the traveling library to Youbou. On September 12, 1957 it was decided that attendance to the auxiliary being so poor the IWA Ladies Auxiliary #98 would disband. All the old correspondence was destroyed.
