George E. McMahon and Edward J. Mack purchased the Fulton Hardware business and building on Cliff Street from Andrew Fulton in 1921. McMahon was the former bookkeeper for Fulton. They operated as McMahon and Mack Hardware Ltd. until 1929 when McMahon purchased Mack's interest and changed the name to McMahon Hardware Ltd. McMahon served many years on city council and was the mayor for three years. He was active with the I.O.O.F., the Enderby Rink Association, the Curling Club, and the Conservative Association. In 1950 McMahon sold the business to Samol and Abramenko.

Records were left in the hardware building and salvaged by various people during numerous renovations.
Scope and content
Fonds consists of records pertaining to the operation of McMahon and Mack Hardware and McMahon Hardware. It includes the B.C. Gazette copy of certificate of incorporation for McMahon and Mack Hardware Ltd. (1925), correspondence with suppliers, price lists, a mailing list, a ledger for income and expenses (1928-1932), a list of guns sold (1924-1961), counter sales receipts, a booklet on fretwork, and a price marking system.
