Biographical history
James Allan Nelson (1863-1938) was a farmer in Delta, BC. He was born in Markdale Ontario and came to Ladner in 1894. He married Sarah Elizabeth Hennesy and they had ten children, eight of whom went to Delta schools. James served as a Delta School Board Trustee from 1925 to 1932. His son David Nelson (1898- ) is the donor's (Lesley Nelson) father.

Scope and content
Consists of photographs of Ladner scenes such as the old municipal hall (now the Delta Museum and Archives), farm threshing scenes, cenotaph, ferry, Tsawwassen and Vancouver scenes. Includes an army photograph with David Nelson in it and a map of coast of British Columbia. Textual materials include a poem, monthly time book, receipt and a CPR marconigram.
