    Biographical history

Fort St. John was included in the earliest Anglican activity in the Peace River country which was directed from Pouce Coupe beginning after World War I. The North Peace River Parish (now called North Peace) was founded in 1930 with the support of the Fellowship of the West and the Fellowship of the Maple Leaf, and particularly, with the help of Miss Eva Hasell and Monica Storrs. The Fellowship of the West had been founded in 1928 in Montreal as a result of Miss Hasell's and Miss Sayle's Sunday School Caravan work in the area. The Fellowship supplied clergy to the parish until 1952 when the Diocese took over this responsibility. The centre of the parish has been St. Martin's, Fort St. John which was opened in 1931. Other churches in the parish have included: St. John's, Baldonell (1931), Church of the Good Shepherd, Taylor (1932), St. Matthias', Cecil Lake (1938) and St. Peter's, Hudson's Hope (1938). Of these, St. John's, Baldonell had closed by the 1960's while St. Peter's, Hudson's Hope has been included in other parishes and is currently a separate parish. The Fort St. John, Cecil Lake and Taylor congregations remain a part of the parish.
