    Administrative history

Set up by provincial canon in 1917, the Provincial Board of Missions to Orientals built on earlier work among Chinese and Japanese people in the province. By 1925 four missions were operating under the Superintendent of Anglican Chinese Missions: Good Hope Mission in Victoria; Good Samaritan and Good Shepherd Missions in Vancouver; and Good Angel Mission in Vernon. By 1925 two missions were operating under the Superintendent of Anglican Japanese Missions: Holy Trinity Mission in Vancouver and St. Andrew's Mission in Prince Rupert. The Board worked in consultation with the various dioceses in carrying out its work. In 1965 the function of the Provincial Board was transferred to the dioceses, resulting in the dissolution of the Board.
