Subfonds - Provincial Council sous-fonds

Formerly called the Executive Committee, it was renamed the Provincial Council around 1972. The Provincial Council ceased to exist following its 35th meeting, April 15-16, 1994.

A Finance Committee (191?-1976) was already in place before the first meeting of Provincial Synod in 1914. The second Synod appointed a three person Finance Committee, including the Provincial Synod Treasurer. The name of the Committee had been changed to Administration and Finance Committee by the 24th Session of Provincial Synod (1976). The 27th meeting of Provincial Synod amended sub-clause (b) of Clause 4 of the Enactments of the Anglican Provincial Synod of British Columbia changing the Committee's name to Executive Committee (1985). The revised Clause 4 of the Enactments outlined the membership and tasks of this Committee among which were: (I) "to carry on the work of the Synod between sessions of the Provincial Council but always subject to the directions of the Synod and the Provincial Council;" (V) to have the general direction, oversight and supervision of the financial concerns of the Synod between sessions of Synod". As a result of major changes to provincial structures passed by the 30th Provincial Synod in 1994, the Executive Committee ceased to exist in 1995. A new Executive Council was formed to carry on its work together with the tasks of the former Provincial Council, which also ceased to exist by the same act of Synod.
