History
The Richmond Women's Resource Centre was formed in 1976 and became a non-profit association with charitable tax status in 1989. The location of the centre has varied over the years from basements, church halls, and trailers, to three different city owned houses. In 1994 it moved into the Caring Place, 110 - 7000 Minoru Boulevard, Richmond. It is mandated to provide a supportive environment in which all women are encouraged and enabled to achieve their fullest potential. Its activities include empowering women by providing support, encouragement, education, information and training so they are better equipped to make decisions in their own lives. It also provides a safe place for women to come and share their experiences and celebrate their achievements. It receives funding from individual members, donors, and the City of Richmond.
