Biographical history
Ron Black was an English teacher in Comox. His Neighbor J. Percy who was on Comox Council asked him to cover council meetings in the 1960s. Black wrote articles for the Comox District Free Press form 1965-1969, then began traveling so stopped his writing in 1971-72. Black served on Comox Council. He did not seek another term due to his busy schedule. He continues to live in Comox.
Custodial history
These documents were in the possession of Ron Black until he gave the material to Phyllis Long, a long time member of Comox Archives and Museum to dispose of as she saw fit. Phyllis long delivered them to the Comox Archives and Museum to be accessioned into the archives in 2003.
Scope and content
The fonds consist of textual records and ephemera relating to Ron Blacks activities with Comox Council, the civic marina and writing for the Comox District Free Press. The material consists of copies of administrative records and correspondence; newspaper clippings; maps; and a scrapbook of newspaper clippings of articles written for the Free Press. The fonds is arranged in six series: 1) Administrative Records; 2) Correspondence; 3) Ephemera; 4) Maps; 5) Scrapbook.
