    Administrative history

The Royal Purple of Canada was founded in Canada in 1914 and in 1921, Royal Purple of Canada Lodge #8 was formed in Prince Rupert where there were 27 charter members. In 1934 the group surrendered its charter but was formed again in 1952 with 18 charter members. During the mid 2000s, membership was opened up to include males and people aged sixteen and older.

    Custodial history

The records belonged to Marky (Krescy) Gurvich who was a member of the Royal Purple Lodge #8 for many years, assuming the role of Honoured Royal Lady and District Deputy. The records were donated to the Archives after her death in 2005, by Vi Schaeffer, executor of Gurvich's will.

    Scope and content

The fonds consists of photographs of the March of Dimes campaign in Prince Rupert in 1954 and photographs of the Royal Purple members circa 2000s. It also includes a constitution and bylaws, correspondence, membership lists, minutes and miscellaneous items such as speeches made by Marky Gurvich and notices about regional meetings.
