Biographical history
On August 17, 1898 Barbara Isobel Waters, daughter of Mrs Barbara Bass Waters and Reverend Thomas Waters, married William Robert Carnac Morris. Mr. Morris was a highly experienced professional engineer, serving on many famous tunnel projects in England, as well as doing survey and appraisal work around the world. Barbara Isobel (referred to as Bobbie by family) was one of three siblings, all who were born and raised at Thornbury Vicarage, England where their father was vicar from 1872-1885. They later moved to the Kilmington Rectory (ca. 1899). While living in England, William and Isobel had a child, Eileen Morris. In 1906, William moved his family to Vernon, BC where they resided at Kalamalka Lake. From 1911-1913, Mr. Morris headed the BC Hydrographic Survey. During the First World War, he served as chief inspector in a munitions plant in Montreal. After the war, he did appraisal work for the Soldier Settlement Board. In the 1920s, Mr Morris held the position of Reeve of Coldstream. Mr. Morris died on August 2, 1955. He was survived by his wife Isobel, and daughter Eileen, who lived in London, England.
