Biographical history
Edward Wintrip, an Englishman, was a blacksmith on Williams Creek in the early 1870s. Following the death of his wife, Mary, in 1879, Edward lived with his son, John, and his brothers Lewis and Robert in a cabin at the mouth of Stout's Gulch.
