Fonds - Friends of the Olive Devaud fonds

The Friends of the Olive Devaud was formed as a result of the announcement by the Provincial Government, Coastal Health Authority, that the Olive Devaud Home, a home for senior citizens, was to be closed due to the building's inadequacies. With the closing of the facility, the expectation was that families would look after their loved ones in the interim until the new private/public partnerships could build the buildings. As the new buildings had not yet been tendered nor had the land been sold to any interested parties, the Friends of the Olive Devaud was formed to fight this proposition as it was felt that this was not feasible. The organization became dormant after the government backed down from their proposal.
