Biographical history
The Rocky Mountain Rangers was originally a term to refer to five militia rifle companies located at Rossland, Nelson, Kamloops, Kaslo and Revelstoke. The companies continued to operate independently until they were amalgamated in 1908 to form the 102nd Regiment, Rocky Mountain Rangers, under the command of William Holmes. Headquarters were originally in Nelson, B.C., but in 1912 were moved to Kamloops. The Rocky Mountain Rangers provided men for service in both World War I and World War II and continue to operate as a militia unit of the Canadian Army.
