Biographical history
Harry Barber was born in Alton, Ontario, and arrived in Chilliwack in 1898 to establish a drugstore. He was active in various civic organizations, most notably as the President of Chilliwack Board of Trade. He was Mayor of Chilliwack from 1914 to 1917 and was a Conservative Member of Parliament (MP) for Fraser Valley from 1925 to 1940.

The fonds consists of notes and manuscripts by Barber written in the latter part of his life for compilation as a book on the history of Chilliwack.
